helloAnime removes every technical barrier between you and a live streaming site. Import thousands of titles from MyAnimeList in minutes, organise them by season, schedule episode countdowns, and monetise with the built-in ad manager — all from the familiar WordPress dashboard.
Content can be populated automatically via the Jikan API (no key needed) or created fully manually for fan dubs, originals, or titles not listed on MAL. Both methods use the same post types and front-end templates, so your site stays consistent no matter how the content was added.

helloAnime is fully self-contained.
No MAL API key
Jikan is a free, public, read-only wrapper — zero sign-up needed.
Hosting recommendation: Any managed WordPress host (Kinsta, WP Engine, SiteGround, Cloudways) or standard cPanel/shared hosting that meets the PHP and MySQL requirements above will work out of the box.
For high-traffic sites with frequent API imports, a VPS with at least 1 GB RAM and an opcode cache (OPcache) is recommended to keep response times fast.

Instructions
Installation

Upload & activate the theme
In your WordPress admin go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme. Select the
helloAnime.zip file you downloaded from Codester, click Install Now, then click Activate.

Create all required pages
Go to helloAnime → Dashboard and click Create / Verify Required Pages. The theme auto-creates every necessary page — Home, Browse, Schedule, Watchlist, Recent Episodes, A–Z — with the correct template assigned. Pages that already exist are left untouched.

Set your static homepage
Go to Settings → Reading. Under "Your homepage displays" select A static page, then set Homepage to the Home page just created.
Importing Anime
A
Import by MAL ID
Go to helloAnime → Add Anime. Find the anime on myanimelist.net and copy the numeric ID from the URL — e.g.
myanimelist.net/anime/1735/ → ID is 1735. Paste it into Quick Import by MAL ID and click Fetch. Preview the card, then click Import.
If the title is already imported the button changes to View / Edit — no duplicates are ever created.

Search by name
On the same Add Anime page, type a title into the Search by Name field and click Search. Cards from MAL appear showing cover, type, score, and year. Click Import on any card.

Import an entire season
Go to helloAnime → Seasons. Pick a year and season (Winter / Spring / Summer / Fall) then click Import Season. Use Import Current Season to auto-detect and import whatever is currently airing. A live progress log shows results in real time.

Add anime manually
Go to Anime → Add New. Set the post title, add a synopsis in the editor, upload a featured image, assign genre terms, and fill in the Override Jikan Data meta box (score, status, episode count). Click Publish.
Use manual entry for fan dubs, originals, or titles not on MAL. They appear in all archives and the A–Z page just like imported titles.
Adding Episodes & Streaming Sources

Create a new episode post
Go to Episodes → Add New. Set the post title (e.g. the episode name, or leave as "Episode N").

Link to the parent anime
In the Parent Anime sidebar box, search for and select the anime this episode belongs to.

Fill in the Episode Info meta box
Enter the episode number (decimals supported — e.g.
5.5 for a special), air date, audio type (Sub / Dub / Raw), duration, and optionally an SEO description. Tick Filler / Recap if applicable — a badge will show on the front end.

Add streaming sources
In the Streaming Sources meta box click + Add Server for each source. Choose the platform (Custom / YouTube / Dailymotion), enter a server label, select a quality badge, and paste the URL. For direct video files (
.mp4, .m3u8) the built-in HTML5 player is used automatically.
Add download links in the separate Download Links meta box using the same row format — one row per quality or format.

Publish
Click Publish. The episode appears on the parent anime's episode list immediately.
Theme Settings Reference

Quick Tips
Enable the hero slider
Open 3–6 anime editors and enable the Featured Anime toggle in the Spotlight / Feature sidebar box. Optionally enable Hero Banner on the same titles to use their backdrop as a full-width background.
Set up episode countdowns
In any anime editor, find the Episode Release Schedule sidebar box. Click a frequency preset (Daily / Weekly / Bi-weekly or Custom), set an anchor date (the most recently aired episode date), and save. The countdown updates itself — no further edits needed each week.
Link seasons & related titles
Open the Seasons & Relations meta box on each anime editor. Click + Add entry, choose the relation type, search for the linked title, and save. Add the relation on both anime so visitors can navigate in either direction.
Manage ads
Go to helloAnime → Ad Manager. Paste any ad code (AdSense, custom HTML, or iframe) into a slot and toggle it on. Each slot has an independent enable/disable switch — the code is saved even when the slot is off.
