Fresh Stack is a fully native WordPress block theme (FSE) designed for blogs, online magazines, and content-driven websites. It requires no page builders, no shortcodes, and no framework dependencies — everything is built on the WordPress Site Editor and custom Gutenberg blocks.

Theme Highlights

The theme ships with 16 purpose-built custom blocks that cover every section of a modern content site. These include an Editor Picks carousel with hand-picked post selection and arrow navigation, a Trending sidebar that ranks posts by comment count or displays them randomly, a Recent Posts grid with AJAX-powered search and Load More pagination, an Author Box that pulls data dynamically from WordPress user profiles with support for 7 social platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, GitHub, Pinterest), a fully functional comment system with threaded replies and honeypot spam protection, post navigation with previous/next and random post buttons, a Subscribe Form compatible with any ESP (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, AWeber) via configurable action URL, and category browsing with animated expand/collapse.

Every block is server-side rendered with proper security measures — all output is escaped with esc_html(), esc_attr(), and esc_url(), SVGs are sanitised through wp_kses() with explicit tag whitelists, and form inputs include honeypot fields and nonce verification.

Full Site Editing

Fresh Stack is built entirely on FSE templates and template parts. The header, footer, single post, archive, search, 404, and homepage templates are all editable directly in the WordPress Site Editor. No PHP template hierarchy to navigate — every layout decision is made visually. The theme includes a responsive hamburger menu overlay with search, subscribe form, navigation, social links, and copyright — all configurable from the Site Editor.

Typography and Design

The theme uses a clean two-font system with configurable CSS custom properties for colours, spacing, radii, and sizing. Post page headings follow a carefully calibrated descending scale from h1 through h6, all centre-aligned. The layout uses a flexible two-column structure for single posts (65% content, 35% sidebar) that collapses gracefully on mobile.

Developer Friendly

The codebase follows WordPress coding standards throughout. All blocks are organised in a clean src/build architecture with webpack compilation. Block attributes are validated, default values are provided, and InnerBlocks are used where compositional flexibility is needed. The theme registers a custom block category and enqueues editor-specific styles for accurate WYSIWYG preview in the Site Editor.
